Building Works
Our School will undergo a capital works project involving the:
- replacement of demountable classrooms with six permanent, contemporary classrooms;
- refurbishment of five classrooms, student amenities, administrative and staff spaces; and
- construction of outdoor learning space.
GSA Architects, in consultation with the Principal and Parish Priest, have developed the plans for the project.
The project investment is over $14.5 million, covering both construction and non-construction costs.
Catholic Schools Broken Bay have made a commitment to improving the facilities and learning spaces in our schools as part of our Towards 2025 strategy. You can find more information about other school improvements here.
We appreciate the support of the CSBB and the NSW Government who will partially fund this project.
Church
The Parish Church is within our grounds and all school masses are celebrated there. The school is fortunate in that we can join in many Parish celebrations because of this.
BER
In 2010 the school received Federal Government funding under the BER program.
The St Mary’s building project provided Year 3, 4 and 5 classes with brand new classrooms, all with the latest technology including interactive whiteboards. Year 6 classes have also been refurbished. A new under croft has been established for the students for play at lunchtimes, as well as refurbished student amenities.
Kinder to Year 2 classrooms were also refurbished in 2010 and are welcoming and exciting learning spaces for our Infant classes.
St Mary’s Library and Resource Centre
St Mary’s Library and Resource Centre caters to the needs of Students, Staff and Parents by providing a collection of print, electronic and online resources. Our modern and versatile Library is dedicated to St Mary Mackillop and aims to emulate her by promoting the development of all students from Kinder to Year 6 in the areas of Literacy and Information skills.
A prime function of our library is to support the classroom curriculum. Our online resources are designed to assist the school community beyond the conventional classroom walls, by providing guided access to trusted and appropriate Internet resources.
Playgrounds
Students enjoy a variety of play areas. They are able to choose quiet shady areas where they can sit and chat or the wide open space of the oval to play ball games or simply run.
The undercroft provides an area to play organised games with a friend.
